The beautiful Adrianna Mapitse is a fitness bikini model, a career path that is yet to flourish in Botswana. She is acclaimed and has a couple of achievements under her belt. Adrianna was the winner of the Designer Physique’s ‘Miss Fitness Bikini’ competition. She also won the EKM Classic’s Miss Fitness Bikini competition.

Bikini Modeling is about confidence, physique and posing. Models are expected to show evidence of careful diet and adequate physical exercise. Currently, with the competitions being hosted in Botswana, there are only two divisions; beach bikini and fitness (figure) bikini. There is a significant difference between the two. The beach bikini models, they should show evident muscle tone without visible muscle definition. Adrianna’s category (fitness bikini), models are expected to have very lean and well-shaped muscles without excessive size and definition. Judges do not want muscle bulk, extreme definition or vascularity (veins) as seen in body building. Such attributes usually get marked down.

Although she has to be very careful not to over define her body, her diet and work out are still very intense. Mapitse works out 4-5 times a week which entails intense strength and endurance training. Added to that, she does minimal cardio. Her diet includes eating four meals a day which would be, breakfast, brunch, lunch and supper with healthy snacks in between. She makes sure that her meals are protein packed, which is necessary for muscle replenishing. If she is to consume carbohydrates, it is for the sole purpose of energy formation. Natural fats are also a necessity. Adrianna also makes it a point to drink at least 2 litres of water daily.

Her main protein sources include chicken breasts, whey protein, lean beef, fish (hake and tuna), milk and eggs. She sources her carbohydrates from oatmeal, rice, pasta, complex carbs (fruits and veg’s) and lastly, her fats come from olive oil, avocado, peanut butter and milk.

For the registration process, one has to be sure of the division they will be competing under. If one is to compete under the wrong category with opposite attributes, they would be automatically disqualified or marked down.

Appearance wise, she is expected to wear a two-piece bikini and a pair of heels. She applies full makeup and styles her hair. Jewelry is allowed but should not be distracting. Mapitse is also expected to apply gel all over her body for a clean cut presentation.

During the competition, competitors enter the stage one at a time to do the ‘model walk’. There after they stand along the back wall and are asked to make some turns once all the ladies are on stage entailing quarter turns on either side, left or right. Once the lot gets off stage, they individually do their personal routines whereby one strikes different poses while facing forward, to the side and to the rear. During posing, she makes emphasis on her arms, shoulders, abs, butt and legs by flexing them.

Being a fitness model evidently requires much discipline and an obvious passion for what you do! Its definitely a great way to stay in shape and keep someone grounded.
