Stan Chart shares global opportunities with Chinese community


In its efforts to show appreciation for the loyalty and support of existing clients and to meet potential customers to the bank, Standard Chartered Bank Botswana recently engaged the local Chinese community in both Francistown and Gaborone.

The bank strives to offer its clients access to global excellence in banking across personal, business, commercial and corporate banking segments. It says it uses its extensive experience of the Botswana economy to provide a value add link between the dynamics of the local market and doing business across a global network.

“The Belt & Road initiative launched by the Chinese government in 2013 offers a great opportunity to promote free trade and connectivity between the Asian, European and African continents. Standard Chartered Bank, through its in-depth knowledge of the regions’ political, economic and cultural environment together with our comprehensive products and services make the bank an indispensable partner in this initiative,” the Bank said in a press statement.

Stan Chart has a presence in 65 markets across the globe, 69% of which are in countries along the Belt & Road, this includes 15 African markets and presence in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

The Bank continued; “The Bank’s global presence enables us to carry out foreign transactions more efficiently and effectively across many markets. Today US Dollar transfers, from a Standard Chartered Bank account in Botswana to another Standard Chartered Bank account in China takes only 15 minutes utilizing our award-winning digital banking platforms and at most two days to other third party banks in all currencies. The Bank not only prides itself with efficiencies, but also offers these services at competitive foreign exchange rates, which can be negotiated.”

Some of the products and services that the Bank has include the Priority and Business Banking offering which the Bank says it ensures that the clients get the “best-in-class value adding services to meet your banking needs.”  The Bank also mentioned Straight2Bank, an online banking platform that helps businesses to manage all their banking digitally. “It offers same-day remittance of South African Rand transactions and allows one to remit funds in over 125 currencies including Renminbi (RMB),” the Bank explained.
