From his entry into the hip hop scene with his club banger, Naomi, Ban-T has been consistent on the media streams with his music and ever evolving sound. On the 8th of June the Cigar Lounge situated in Phakalane accommodated his video launch for his latest single, Don Dada which has been dominating the radio stations since its release.
The basis of the launch was to engage the fans with the process it took to create the video and eventually indulge in the finished product which was the video itself. It certainly was nothing short of what the lyrical content entailed. It had beautiful girls from Botswana of all different shapes, skin tones and sizes across different aspects of life. Empire models were featured in the video as well as television and event host, Sadi. Mix Kasamwa also showed off his bomb moves in the video. The production was clearly well crafted and crisp!
With a guest list of an exclusive 30, people did not shy away from coming out to show love! The club was filled to capacity with fans who chimed in when the video premiered with excitement. The Why So? artist could not have been more pleased, “My inspiration for the video, was to do something different, something I haven’t done before,” he says. “I really wanted to incorporate a lot of dance in the video so a lot of my inspiration came from western African videos like Nigerian stars Mr Eazi and Runtown because most of their videos have a lot of dance in them.”
The correlation to this was definitely noticeable, especially with respect to the fact that Don Dada definitely has the west African feel to it. With this much success surrounding the artist one can only wonder what more is in the wood works in terms of collaborations that fans can look forward to in the future. “At the moment I’m just working on my own music. I did however do a couple of features which is what I am going to keep doing but no special collaborations to look out for in the mean-time.” He concluded by saying that going forward, for the rest of the year, he will be focusing mainly on his album and producing more visual content for his fans, “I’m shooting my music video for ‘Rari’ in a few weeks and people can expect another single in the next two months,” he finishes off.
The acclaimed star is one to take notice of because if you aren’t taking notes he might end up retiring a lot of people! With the level of quality that is put into his productions, its only positively promising things that he can look forward to. In a word, the launch was simply, successful.
