Incessant wet weather forces delay of wine fest

·        Organisers say to hold on your ticket if you have already bought one

Just when they had everyone on their tenterhooks, organisers of Gaborone Wine Festival have announced a postponement of their inaugural event, thanks to contunual heavy rains that are expected throughout this week and the weekend.

The event will instead be held from 10 to 11March at the same venue, Bojanala Waterfront, in Gaborone.

Says coordinator Masego Rammelane:  “We find that continuing with the event could compromise the quality of the event and restrict guests from relishing in the gourmet food, the good wine and the live entertainment that we have planned for them in an outdoor setting.

“Besides, we want our partners to be uninhibited to do live demonstrations and to exhibit their wines and other products. An outdoor theme fits well with our event, hence the decision to postpone.  We expect the event to be a sun-filled affair in the best atmosphere for relaxation, music and great fun.”

Because people have been much agog for event, many have already bought tickets. But they need not worry because the organisers say they must hold on to their tickets and wait for the new date to enjoy a great wine festival.

Intended to become an annual affair, Gaborone Wine Festival is a wine and lifestyle event that provides wine enthusiasts with an opportunity to gain knowledge of wines and wine tastings within their own environment. The festival will offer informative and entertaining talks throughout the weekend by international wine experts, producers and wine makers. Attendees can expect samplings, pairings and speeches alongside live entertainment and a selection of fabulous dining options by local chefs.

Tickets are still available at webtickets at P250 for a general ticket and P500 for the VIP lounge. Other packages are available.
