Preps for Gabs wine fest underway

  • More than 100 of the world’s best wines to tickle the tongue, epicurean delights from the best of Gabs’ chefs to pleasure the palate and much boogying to live music is what to expect at the first of what is to be an annual affair

Exquisite wine will be the main attraction at the inaugural Gaborone Wine Festival (GWF) that is billed for February 3-4 at Wagga Gardenex in Modipane, Global Lifestyle has established.

A cheerful, wine-filled atmosphere with great music is what event facilitator, Masego Rammelane, says is to look forward to.

“Gaborone Wine Festival is a wine and lifestyle event that provides wine enthusiasts with an opportunity to gain knowledge of wines and wine tastings within their own burgeoning environment,” Masego explains.

“The festival will offer informative and entertaining gab throughout the weekend by international wine experts, producers and makers. Attendees can expect samplings, pairings and spiel along with live entertainment and a selection of fabulous dining options by local chefs.”

He says the idea of having a wine-oriented festival came from Angela Katse and himself, they being two wine enthusiasts of note. “Our aim with GWF is to help showcase some of the exclusive wines in the regional and global market, to educate local wine devotees about wine and to promote and benefit local businesses.

“This festival will provide economic value to the small local wine distributors by introducing their products to the new and growing market via education and interaction that should increase local consumption and sale.”

From wine tastings to gourmet food stalls, the two-day event will also feature cooking demonstrations, fashion and live entertainment featuring the likes of Prince de Kok, Room91, Shaft People, Dzzious Christ and Abigail Isa.

“People will discover great new wines and the chance to compare and contrast over 100+ great wines. We will host talks from some of the finest winemakers and experts. These unmissable sessions are a perfect opportunity to taste some of the world’s greatest wines and learn from our expert tutors. You can also expect a variety of dining options and music acts to complete your experience.”

Tickets to the festival are available at webtickets.
