With the COVID-19 pandemic numbers on the rise in Botswana, the Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana continued with their good spirit of helping in the fight against Covid-19 in Botswana. The charity association, which has in 2012 handed over their first project, refurbishing and building patient waiting area to an amount of 1 million pula at Mogoditshane Clinic, has this time went back and donated 50 litres of hand sanitizers and 10 000 pieces of medical gloves to the Mogoditshane clinic.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the President of the Charity Association of the Chinese in Botswana Mr Miles Nan highlighted that they want to do a lot for Botswana with the efforts and contributions they get from each and every single member of the association. Miles said they donated twelve million  pula worth of protective clothing (PPE’s) and cash to Presidential Covid-19 task force at the of the president, Ministry of Health, Botswana Defense force, Schools and individuals around the country since the outbreak of the Covid-19.

“Due to the calamity of Covid-19 that has affected the whole universe, Botswana has not been an exception; families and friends have not lost their loved ones. Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana did not fold their hands; we donated (PPE’s) Protective Clothing,” said Miles Nan. Miles Nan also applauded the Botswana medical team and Batswana in general for adhering to the rules of the task force for doing the best that they can in trying to contain this virus.

Principal Nursing Officer II John Moloi said the noble gesture by the Charity Association of Chinese living in Botswana is in line with the government’s endeavour towards flattening the curve for Covid-19 and improving the quality of care towards its people. Moloi pleaded with the Charity Association of Chinese living in Botswana to adopt Mogoditshane Clinic so that these gestures that are extended to it over time bear meaningful returns.
