Mmolotsi draws first blood in war with UDC

The Vice President of the Alliance for Progressives, Wynter Mmolotsi has launched a scathing broadside against the presidium of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), sparing only Dumelang Saleshando.

Speaking at the launch of AP in the Kweneng North constituency, Mmolotsi, who styled himself as a political-seer of sorts, stated that just like he predicted doom for the country under the leadership of former President Ian Khama, he is adamant that UDC president Duma Boko will not become an accountable and successful mass leader.

Mmolotsi claimed that he doubted Molepolole South Member of Parliament Dr. Tlamelo Mmatli’s credentials as a UDC MP elect for the 2014 general election.

Mmolotsi who is MP for Francistown West constituency also asked for forgiveness from the constituents for his shortsightedness in endorsing Mmatli.

He said that all the misgivings they expressed, together with the likes of Gomolemo Motswaledi and others, about the makeup of Khama’s character and leadership style, have come to pass.

“Like I have told you before, I have the knack for reading politics and the good in politics, I want to tell you that at the moment, serenity is found in the Alliance for Progressives,” he said before blasting off, “some people ask me where are the BMD (Botswana Movement for Democracy) members who were wreaking havoc in Bobonong (congress) and I tell them that they are UDC members,” blasted Mmolotsi.

Mmolotsi also sought to tie BMD leader Advocate Sidney Pilane to the street battles that occurred during the internecine struggle for BMD at its 2017 congress, stating that Pilane was leader of thugs that wrought carnage in the sleepy village.

“When you see UDC you should know that it is Pilane’s party and you should run as fast and as far away as possible.”

Mmolotsi also said that the combination of Pilane and UDC President Duma Boko as Vice President and President of the country in the event UDC wins power, will be a bad development for the country as both men are not fit for leadership.

“You should listen to me today when I say Pilane and Boko cannot rule this country. I work with Boko at Parliament. I have had the chance of working with Boko at Umbrella for Democratic Change, and he does everything alone. Boko took decisions for our parties alone, willy-nilly without consulting. So I’m telling you today that if you thought Khama was a despot, you should go see Boko and see how a tyrant looks like,” said Mmolotsi

He further continued: “If you want to run Botswana aground, give Boko and Pilane power and that is when you’ll see why peace and good governance should be treasured.”
