… but the current standing show a more treacherous route than coach Duiker makes out

Sports Reporter

Extension Gunners coach Tumie Duiker says he and the musketeers of Lobatse have every intention of finishing in the top eight bracket of the BTC premiership league.

‘Mapantsula’ as the Lobatse-based team is affectionately known, are having a fluctuating run of mixed results this season in which they have so far had seven wins, eight draws and six losses.

They presently occupy the seventh spot with 29 points from 21 encounters.

Speaking with this reporter after their 2-1 victory over Sharps Shooting Stars last Friday, Duiker noted that it was an attainable aim to finish among the top eight teams. “Winning the league is out for us,” he said.

“Looking at the team and its form now, our goal is to finish within the top-eight bracket. We will work hard and keep on fighting because most of the goals we concede are due to our own mistakes. We will however not put ourselves under too much pressure and we will take every game as it comes.”

But a look at the log standings presents a more treacherous picture than Duiker makes out because Gunners have similar points to the team just below them (Sharps Shooting Stars) with only four points separating them from 12th placed Tafic.

BTC premiership latest results:

BDF XI 1-3 Gaborone United

Miscellaneous 1-1 Black Forest

Tafic 0-0 Orapa United

Police XI 0-1 Centre Chiefs

Flamengo Santos 0-0 Sankyo Bush Bucks
